Real life is such that things don't always go our way. A bummer, to be sure.  But there's something to be said for the ability to distinguish a situation that can be salvaged and one that can't.  And when you come across the former, one sure-fire way to shift things in the right direction is with a bit of clever distraction -- say, by wearing this eye-catching bracelet of dyed lavender jade and stainless steel spacers while using your hands (dramatically) to explain to the nice officer how the car crash was the other guy's fault.  Ticket averted!
